My name is Niall, and I am the proud owner of Fire and Ice Recovery here in Donaghmede. My journey into the cold started back in 2021 when a friend of mine introduced me to sea swimming during the winter months. I never understood why all these crazy people were getting into the icy water down at Portmarnock beach, even the thought of it was enough to send a chill up your spine. When I tried it for myself, I will never forget that feeling ! First, the pain of the cold water, followed by the burning of my body as it tried to stay warm.

The real buzz came after when we got back out, talk about feeling alive ! It was absolutely exhilarating. My next venture was the sauna and how the mix of both hot and cold together brought a whole new level to the overall experience. The contrast between both hot and cold was a match made in heaven. I was addicted ! It was then when I really delved into the science behind why it made me feel so good, physically and mentally.

When a space became available in my hometown of Donaghmede, I knew what I wanted to do. So, in August of 2023 we opened our doors with one goal in mind. Bringing this feeling to our community. We now provide a space for people to come and do their contrast therapy in a safe and friendly environment and leave feeling so much better than when they arrived.
